VOTE FOR CHANGE IN WAUPACA COUNTY
MARY B. KEEHN
FOR REGISTER OF DEEDS
After working more than 11 years in the Outagamie County Register of Deeds Office (more than 7 of those years as Chief Deputy) I am excited and proud to be running for the Register of Deeds for Waupaca County! With the retirement of the current Register, this is the perfect opportunity for change, positive energy and a new perspective, making an impact not only on the Register of Deeds Office, but on the County as well. I have the experience, knowledge and determination to execute the many responsibilities, duties and challenges of the Register of Deeds in a respectful and professional manner, where customer service is and always will be a top priority. I invite you to take a moment to look around my site and get to know me, my qualifications, and my commitment to serving you as YOUR next Register of Deeds!
ABOUT ME
Waupaca County has been my home for most of my life. Growing up on a fishing resort along the Wolf River in the Village of Fremont, I learned the value of hard work as well as a strong work ethic. Living in this close-knit village, I acquired a love for the community and its people, which made the decision to make Fremont my forever home, an easy one. Much of my family resides in Waupaca County, making it an important mission to me to preserve the integrity of the records that are housed in the Register of Deeds Office while making them easily accessible when needed. I am an active member of the community, volunteering at various events, being a member of the Fremont Historical Society, the Invaders Snowmobile Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 391. In my spare time, I enjoy all the things our community has to offer including spending time with friends and family, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking, and golfing. I look forward to bringing my experience and knowledge back to my home county!
EXPERIENCE
2017 - Present
OUTAGAMIE COUNTY
Deputy Register of Deeds
As Deputy Register of Deeds, I am able to perform the duties of the Register in her absence. I have attended local and national conferences, spoken on several panels, participate on multiple committees and have attended many leadership and management conferences and seminars. In this role, I supervise the Junior Deputies, manage our tract index, inventory and order supplies, do bookkeeping, issue vital records, do the intake on marriage licenses, review and approve death certificates, review and record real estate documents, and record military discharge papers. I work closely with lenders, realtors, title companies, appraisers, funeral directors, surveyors and the public.
2013-2017
Chain of Title Recorder
OUTAGAMIE COUNTY
As chain of title recorder, I was responsible for entering recorded land records into our tract index. During this process, I would map out legal descriptions to assure the completeness of the description, search the title owner ensuring proper transfer of title. I would assist the public and local title companies, realtors, etc., in locating documents such as deeds, easements and covenants. I would aid persons in searching out their family's land records history.
2010-2015
Independent Abstractor
SUPERIOR SEARCHES, LLC
After working in the title insurance field for many years, I began searching as an independent abstractor. I performed residential, commercial and foreclosure searches for many local title companies as well as national settlement companies such as First American, ServiceLink and TransUnion. I conducted title searches, checked judgments and liens, and the status of the real estate taxes. I often had to work with strict deadlines and accuracy was a must. Being self-employed, I was also responsible for the invoicing and balancing of the books.
2007-2010
BAY TITLE & ABSTRACT
(F/K/A DUMKE TITLE)
Title Examiner/Abstractor
My job responsibilities at Bay Title were primarily to search the courthouse records ensuring title to property, checking the Clerk of Courts office for judgements or liens, and checking the status of county and/or municipal taxes. I had to report any defect in title so they could be taken care of prior to closing. After obtaining my Title Examiner's License, I wrote title commitments and final title policies and prepared files for closings.
1993-1997

FIRST AMERICAN TITLE,

It was at Evan's Title where I learned title searching and other various tasks performed by title companies. I was in charge of thier letter report department, taking orders, issuing quotes, preparing verbals and written reports, and invoicing.
